When it comes to railway infrastructure with more than 170 years of history, each intervention must guarantee the conservation of the building while adapting it to current needs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this context, <strong>IMPERA<\/strong> has participated in the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Cornell\u00e0 de Llobregat station by carrying out the <strong>waterproofing work on the upper roof<\/strong> , an essential action to protect the building from moisture and ensure its conservation over the coming decades.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project represents much more than just waterproofing work. It means being part of the conservation of one of the most emblematic railway buildings in the country.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A station with more than 170 years of history<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cornell\u00e0 de Llobregat station was inaugurated in <strong>1855<\/strong> , coinciding with the expansion of the railway in Catalonia and the consolidation of the first railway lines in the State.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is currently considered <strong>one of the oldest railway stations in Spain that is still in operation<\/strong> , becoming a benchmark of Catalan railway heritage.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more than a century and a half it has witnessed the industrial, economic and social development of the Barcelona metropolitan area, still maintaining a fundamental role within the suburban train network.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every day more than <strong>10,500 travelers<\/strong> use this infrastructure, which demonstrates the need to preserve the building and adapt it to current standards of safety, accessibility and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A comprehensive rehabilitation to preserve the heritage<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To guarantee the conservation of this historic building, <strong>Renfe<\/strong> has promoted a comprehensive renovation of the station with an investment of more than <strong>2 million euros<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The action includes the modernization of the main building, the renovation of the platforms, the improvement of accessibility, the incorporation of new technical installations and different actions aimed at preserving the original architectural value of the construction.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work is being carried out by the <strong>joint venture formed by Seranco, SA and Serveis i Projectes Begues, SL<\/strong> , which has trusted <strong>IMPERA<\/strong> to carry out the waterproofing work on the upper roof.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participating in a project of these characteristics reinforces the trust placed in IMPERA\u2019s experience and technical capacity to intervene in unique buildings and highly demanding projects.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IMPERA\u2019s intervention<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The roof is one of the most important elements of any building. In historic buildings, their correct waterproofing is essential to avoid leaks that could affect both the structure and the original architectural elements.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, IMPERA has carried out comprehensive waterproofing of the upper roof using a two-layer system of high-performance bituminous sheeting.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The works have included:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preparation of the support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application of asphalt primer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placement of the first sheet with fiberglass reinforcement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installation of the second sheet with polyester reinforcement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Treatment of singular points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Execution of perimeter reinforcements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drainage review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Placement of geotextile felt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final control of all welded joints.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This system offers high resistance to atmospheric agents and guarantees lasting protection against leaks.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A work executed with the utmost precision<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The images of the project show the different phases of the work carried out by IMPERA\u2019s technical teams.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the initial preparation of the support to the complete placement of the waterproofing system, each action has been carried out following strict quality controls.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special attention has been required for perimeter finishes, changes in plan, installation passages and all those singular points that concentrate a greater risk of leaks.<\/p>\n\n<p
